When can we expect all those amenities?
I have been a resident of Summerfield subdivision since January 1992. In 1999, I was a member of the Good Neighbors of Rowan County Association. I have known for some time the city of Salisbury would eventually annex land along N.C. 150 because, as Mayor Kluttz has said, it’s the only way for the city to grow, and it should be the responsibility of people who use city services ó as do so many just outside the city limits ó to pay for them.
Quite frankly, I am looking forward to all the wonderful amenities that accompany paying city taxes; however, will the city provide these services as soon as they start sending the tax bills? I can only hope the mayor and City Council have adequately planned for personnel, supplies and equipment to cover the annexation area. In Mark Wineka’s Feb. 6 article, there was mention of the cost of getting water and sewer services to the Harrison Road area ($3.2 million), a debt for the next 25 years.
Will the city have to raise city taxes for everyone to cover the cost of the newly acquired land and citizens?

Good role models
I, too, would like to commend two of our schools. My daughter is an honor roll student in the fifth grade at Knollwood, and my son is an A/B honor-roll student in the seventh grade at West Rowan Middle. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff at these two schools.
The principals at both schools are very open to communication, and each time I have questions for the teachers, they are very quick to respond. I am grateful to have such wonderful role models for my children.
