MOCKSVILLE ó Davie County Senior Services, 278 Meroney St., offers the following opportunities:
n Tax aid available ó 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through March 15, also March 28 and 29, April 4 and 5, first come, first served. Additional dates by appointment only-9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 20 and April 11, 12 and 14. Volunteers trained through AARP will file low to middle income persons’ taxes.
n Valentine’s Day party and Wacky Fashion Show ó 2 p.m. Feb. 14. Free. RSVP by Feb. 7. Open to adults 55 and older.
n Pounds Away! ó 2:30 p.m. second and fourth Mondays. This is a support group, not a diet plan. Call before coming to your first meeting.
n Diabetes support group ó 10:30-11:15 a.m., third Tuesday of every month. Sponsored by the Davie County Health Department, Healthy Carolinians of Davie County and Davie County Senior Services.
n Healthy Eating ó 10:30 a.m., Feb. 18 at The Farmington site, 1723 Farmington Road. RSVP by Feb. 11.
n Monthly movie ó “Ever After” ó 2 p.m. Feb. 19. RSVP by Feb. 12.
n Black History Month celebration ó 10:30 a.m., Feb. 27. Speaker: Pastor Nettye Barber of New Jerusalem Apostolic Church. Lunch at 11:30 a.m. for those who wish to stay. RSVP to 753-6230 by Feb. 20.
n Trip to Barn Dinner Theatre to see “The Service at Rocky Bluff” ó Departs 11 a.m., April 29. $35, includes transportation for first 24 who sign up.
n Smithfield/Selma trip ó April 17-19. $329 single, $259 double, $239 triple, $229 quad. Deadline for registration Feb. 29.
