Pat’s Salisbury pitch?

Pat’s Salisbury pitch?Although Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory got a late start in the governor’s race, he’s not conceding any electoral ground to his opponents ó especially not in Salisbury.
While McCrory traveled to his hometown of Jamestown to make his candidacy official, he also mentioned his Salisbury connections, noting he had “moved to beautiful Salisbury to attend Catawba College and obtain my teaching certificate.” He alluded to other Salisbury ties, including collaborations with Mayor Susan Kluttz on gang summits and similar regional initiatives.
Was that just typical name-dropping on McCrory’s part ó or a ploy to erode local support for fellow GOP candidate Bill Graham, a Salisbury attorney and Catawba grad himself? We won’t speculate, but if McCrory opens a Salisbury campaign office, we’ll know we’re a key battleground in the race.
