Granite Quarry reunion
The Granite Quarry High School class of 1948 held its 59th reunion on Nov. 3, 2007, in the fellowship hall of Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith.
There was a lot of reminiscing during the social hour prior to a luncheon catered by Debbie Suggs. Red and white roses and class colors red and white were used for decorations. Token gifts were placed on the tables for each member and guests.
John “Buddy” Foster welcomed all present, gave the invocation and spoke of many fond memories from the past and how things had changed over the years. Doris Peacock Cline gave a memorial in remembrance of all deceased classmates by reading a poem entitled “Miss Me, But Let Me Go.” Names were then read from a special plaque.
Everyone enjoyed listening to and guessing names of recorded songs from the 1940s and 1950s. Buddy Foster won the prize for remembering the most tunes.
Prizes were also given to the classmates who had the most children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Group pictures were made and given to each classmate.
Local classmates and guests attending were Perry and Norma Adams, Harry and Gerry Basinger, Wentworth and Hilda Barger Beck, Billy Frank and Mat Brady, Phillip and Essie Brown, Clyde and Ann Corn Petrea, Bill and Doris Peacock Cline, Lillian Eagle Harwell, Glenn “Pud” and Rose McCombs Holshouser, Herman Kepley, Robert and Faye Cauble Kesler, Betty Morgan, Elberta Privett and sister Gertha, Mary Elizabeth Waller Stoner, Mary Frances Oddie Wells, Glenn Wilson, Bobby Wilhelm.Out-of-town classmates were John “Buddy” and Treva Foster of Sherrills Ford, Glenn and Martha Webb of Stoneville and Frances Caley Thompson of Charleston, S.C.
