$1 award reflects value of Sides’ case
The arbitrator that awarded County Commissioner Jim Sides $1 for his saplings found the true value of Side’s argument with the city of Salisbury. But from his comments in Thursday’s Post, Sides is intent on wasting more taxpayer money on a trial and proving once again that he is a small-minded, self-centered embarrassment to Rowan County.

Check the facts
Regarding F. David Candler’s Jan. 3 letter (“Who can help with class struggle?”): It’s Republican Mike Huckabee that plans to instate a 23 percent sales tax if elected ó not Senator Obama! Misinformed voters are partially to blame for the horrible “mess” our country is in now. Please check the facts on candidates before you vote in the next election!

Look past parties
You want a better government, then look to your families. Do not vote for your party, and do not vote for a person who might do a good job. Listen to your heart.
The politicians out there do not care for you or your family. Find ones that will care and vote for them not because they are Democrats or Republicans but because they will do good for America and not themselves.
If you want to change the country, then vote for the best person, not just your own party. That is the reason we are so divided, because no one wants to take responsibility and stand up for everyone, not just some.

Lost and found
I’d like to thank whoever returned my purse after I left it in a buggy in Wal-Mart’s parking lot on the afternoon of Dec. 27. May God bless you. Have a wonderful year.
