GRANITE QUARRY ó Antioch Missionary Baptist Church will observe Woman’s Day Sunday at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The 11 a.m. speaker will be Peggy Johnson of Antioch.
The 4 p.m. speaker will be Minister Frenchie McConneughey of God’s Tabernacle for Believers. The God’s Tabernacle congregation will also attend the service.

Concert in park
KANNAPOLIS ó First Baptist Church in Kannapolis continues their annual Concert in the Park series this Sunday with Jeff Whittington.
The free concert begins at 6 p.m. in Veteran’s Park, located beside the church at 101 N. Main St.
Whittington is a North Carolina banjo champion, has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and has television, movie, radio and theater work all to his credit.
Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket for comfort. If raining, the concert will be held inside the church sanctuary.

Mission team
KANNAPOLIS ó First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis will send a mission work team to Cosby, Tenn., June 24.
The team of 14 youth and adults will stay at and work out of the Sunset Gap Community Center, a Presbyterian ministry in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains.
The group’s primary task will be the renovation of a two-bedroom, hundred-year-old home of a family of eight. The work will include replacing windows and flooring and painting.
Sunset Gap is a wide-ranging community center serving the people of rural Cocke and Sevier counties. The Center originated as a mission school founded by the Presbyterian Church 107 years ago. While independently run by a board of directors now, the Center is still owned by the Presbyterian Church. Their ministries include a food pantry, thrift store, pre-school, as well as hosting work groups during the summer.

On Sunday, the work team will be commissioned for their trip during the 10:55 a.m. worship service. They will depart for Cosby soon afterwards.
Zion Wesley concert
TROUTMAN ó Zion Wesley AME Zion Church, 133 Zion Wesley Road., Troutman, presents the Rev. Rudolph Cornelius Pastor’s Appreciation Concert 4 p.m. Sunday.
The concert will feature The Mighty Pilgrimaires, Zion Wesley’s choirs, The Anointed Vessels, The Messengers for Christ, The Voices of Morningstar and The Heirs of Salvation.
The preached word will be provided by Minister Robert Garln of the Voices of Morning Star.
Food and dinners will be sold.
Bethel Lutheran music
Bethel Lutheran Church will present a special service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday to emphasize the importance of music in the life of the church.
The service will have a different format from the regular liturgical tradition. It will consist primarily of readings and hymns.
Bethel invites all who are interested to come and celebrate this great heritage. The church is located at 355 E. Ridge Road. The Rev. Caroll L. Robinson is the interim pastor.
Rowan International
Rowan International Church, 1709 N. Lee St., presents a Divine Breakthrough, Deliverance and Restoration Revival 7:30 p.m. June 29 and 30 and 11 a.m. July 1.
The revival will feature Bishop Isaac Winker of Dominion Christian Fellowship, Monrovia, Liberia.

Shady Grove Baptist
EAST SPENCERó Shady Grove Baptist Church in East Spencer will hold its first annual Community Day on Saturday, June 23, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Please come out for a free hotdog lunch, games, gospel singing, clothing giveaway, dunking booth and a good old-fashioned fellowship.

Sudan Rowan
There will be a meeting 7:30 p.m., June 28, for Sudan Rowan, an ecumenical/interfaith group of Rowan County citizens interested in doing manageable projects to ease the suffering of the people of Sudan.
Anyone interested in being part of this initiative is invited to attend. The meeting will be in the education building of St. John’s Lutheran Church in downtown Salisbury, in the church library.

FreedomFest 2007
CONCORD ó The Piedmont Singing Men will present FreedomFest 2007 on July 1, at Westford United Methodist Church, 273 Hwy 49 South, Concord.
The concert begins at 6 p.m. and will feature patriotic narrations and music. Fifteen minutes prior to the concert, patriotic music will be played on the piano by Ed Fink, a member and founder of the Piedmont Singing Men. This is a free concert and the public is cordially invited.

Erwin Temple
COOLEEMEE ó The annual homecoming service will be held at Erwin Temple CME Church during Sunday morning worship. The morning message will be given by the pastor, the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah. Music will be rendered by the Erwin Temple Mass Choir.
Lunch will be served at 2 p.m. upon arrival of afternoon guests.
Afternoon worship will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Robert J. Williams, pastor of Williams Memorial CME Church of High Point delivering the message. He will be accompanied by his congregation and music will be provided by their choirs and musicians.
A three night revival will follow, 7 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. The following guest ministers are invited to preach: Monday-the Rev. Bobby J. Milton, pastor of Boxwood Baptist Church, Mocksville; Tuesday-the Rev. James Clement, pastor of Fairfield Baptist Church, Mocksville; Wednesday-the Rev. Neel Road VBS
“Game Day Central: Where Heroes Are Made” will be the theme for this year’s vacation Bible school, at Neel Road Baptist Church, scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. June 24-28.
There will be something for everyone, including Bible study for adults, led by Pastor Neil Westbrook. Supper will be provided for children in The Hut.

Gethsemane Baptist
The GB Ensemble will celebrate their ninth anniversary 7:30 p.m. today at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.
Choirs from in and out of town will participate in this event, including the choirs of Gethsemane. The GB Ensemble is under the direction of Milton Griffith and George Butler. The public is invited to attend.
Grace Lutheran VBS
Vacation Bible school will be held at Grace Lutheran Church 6-8:30 p.m., June 25-29, for ages 3 through adult.
The theme of the week will be “Rescue Zone-Saved by God’s Power.” A light supper will be served by different organizations of the church each day beginning at 6 p.m., with classes immediately following supper.
Leaders for the week will be Patsy Parnell, music; Debbie File, crafts, assisted by Dianne Heilig, Robin Berhardt, Karen Heilig, Sandra Mowery, Wendy Diggs and Matthew Parris.

EAST SPENCER ó Southern City Tabernacle AME. Zion Church will have an appreciation service for the Rev. Rollins S. and Mrs. Betty N. Graham Sunday during morning worship.
Members of the Stewardess Board will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be served afterwards.
Rev. and Mrs. Graham have served at Southern City for the past seven years.
Valiere Foxx serves as the chairman of the Stewardess Board and Albert Johnson Jr. serves as the preacher steward.
Cedar Grove
CLEVELAND ó Pastor’s Appreciation Day at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church will be observed this Sunday, beginning with Sunday Church School at 9:45 a.m.
The morning service message at 11 a.m. will be delivered by Evangelist Cathy Marlin of Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church, Salisbury.
Lunch will be served after the morning service. The afternoon service begins 4 p.m. The preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Dwayne Walker, pastor of Little Rock AME Zion Church, Charlotte. Rev. Walker will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregation.
New Beginning
SPENCER ó New Beginning Community Christian Church, 318 Eighth St., Spencer, will celebrate their seventh Founder’s Day anniversary at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.
The pastor and founder, Eric Henley Sr., will preach at the 11 a.m. service. The speaker for the afternoon service will be Pastor Michael Winters from Arena of Faith Christian Center of Charlotte. His congregation will accompany him.
Dinner will be served after the services.
Youth revival
New Zion Baptist Church will observe their annual youth revival on two nights, June 28 and 29. Services will begin at 7 p.m. nightly.
The guest speaker for Thursday will be Jeff Allen, associate minister of Shady grove Baptist Church in Mount Ulla.
Friday’s speaker will be Clayton Ruggs, associate minister of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Salisbury.
The host pastor is the Rev. Paul Jones Sr.
Third Creek AME Zion
CLEVELAND ó Third Creek AME Zion Church will honor their pastor and his wife, the Rev. and Mrs. Donnie C. Kent, and Andrea C.E. Polk, associate pastor, with an appreciation service at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Harvin Andrson, accompanied by his congregation and choir from Bethel AME Zion Church of Kannapolis.
Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.
