Ida Ruth Lackey
Ida Ruth Suther Lackey, 93, Kannapolis, died June 5, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born June 16, 1913, in Rowan County, Mrs. Lackey was a daughter of the late William Joseph and Mary Shulenburger Suther.
She worked for years in the Cannon Mills’ ticket office, retiring in 1978.
In earlier years, she was a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, China Grove, where she was superintendent of the Children’s Department, taught Sunday school, sang soprano solos in the church choir and was part of the Stirewalt A Cappella Choir.
In later years, she was a member of First Baptist Church.
Her husband, Charles Vester Lackey, preceded her in death.
Survivors include son Charles V. Lackey Jr., Waxhaw, and two grandchildrenson.
A graveside service was held Monday (June 11, 2007) at Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Norman Brisson.
