The last day to vote in the Cabarrus-Mecklenburg Farm Service Agency (FSA) committee elections is Dec. 4. Ballots must be returned to the Cabarrus-Mecklenburg FSA by close of business on Dec. 4 or if mailed, must be post marked Dec. 4. Ballots will be counted on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. in the Cabarrus-Mecklenburg FSA. The counting of the ballots is open to the public.
The candidates in this year’s election are:
The candidate for the Local Administrative Area (LAA) 2 election is as follows: David Houston
The candidates for the Local Administrative Area 4 is as follows:
John P. Cline, Eddie Moose, and Louis Suther.
LAA 2 is the area in Mecklenburg County east of I-85 and LAA 4 is the northeast section of Cabarrus County.
Eligible voters in a local administrative area 2 and 4 who have not received a ballot should contact the Cabarrus-Mecklenburg FSA.
Voter Requirements Persons meeting requirements in 1 or 2, plus 3, below, is eligible to vote:
1. Be of legal voting age and have an interest in a farm or ranch as either of the following:
an owner, operator, tenant or sharecropper, or
a partner in a general partnership or member of a joint venture that has an interest in a farm as an owner, operator, tenant or sharecropper; or
2. Not of legal voting age, but supervises and conducts the farming operations on an entire farm; and
3. Eligible to participate in any FSA program that is provided by law, regardless of the status of funding.
No person shall be denied the right to vote because of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation or marital or family status.
