‘Dot’ Russell
ENOCHVILLE ó Dorothy “Dot” Phillips Russell, 125 Crestwood Drvie, died Saturday (May 12, 2007) at Hospice House, Kannapolis.
Born Dec. 23, 1912, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Russell was a daughter of the late Edgar Wilson and Mary Lou Brafford Phillips.
A member of one of Kannapolis’ pioneer families, she was a former co-owner of Piedmont Cleaners and worked at What-A-Burger No. 10 for 24 years.
She was a charter member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis.
Her first husband, Guy Johnson, died in 1932; her second husband, A. Lee Russell, in 1965; and a grandson and two great-grandchildren also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughter Geraldine Johnson Sellers, China Grove; two grandchidren; three great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A service was held Tuesday (May 15, 2007) at Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Otis Snow. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
