Robert L. Clayton
Robert Lee Clayton, 78, 420 West Ave., died Nov. 21, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center, after three years of illness.
Born Sept. 26, 1928, in Kannapolis, Mr. Clayton was a son of the late J.F. and Nettie Crowell Clayton.A 1946 graduate of Cannon High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He earned an associate degree at Southern Tech of Georgia and retired after 291/2 years with Honeywell Inc.A former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, he and his wife, Velma Eoline Provost Clayton, moved to Greenville; West Columbia, S.C.; and Lawrenceville, Ga., over 40 years, before returning to Kannapolis in 2000.
His daughter, Kathleen C. Nogueron, preceded him in death.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include son Larry Clayton, Atlanta, Ga.
A service was held Saturday (Nov. 25, 2006) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Sarah Weaver. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, Concord.
