The barbershop chorus Triad Harmony Express will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Salisbury High School’s auditorium. The evening is a fundraiser for the J.F. Hurley Family YMCA’s Invest in Youth program.
“It’s just good fun, a clean, happy evening,” says Barbara Franklin, a YMCA staff member who helped organize the concert.
“I’ve been telling people here at the Y, this program will make you smile for a whole month afterward,” Barbara says. “It’s really fun programming.”
Barbara’s husband, Richard, is a member of Triad Harmony Express and has been singing barbershop for about 30 years.
The premier barbershop chorus of the Carolinas, Triad Harmony Express is a chapter of the international Barbershop Harmony Society and meets weekly in Kernersville.
The money raised will go to the YMCA’s Invest in Youth program, which helps fund YMCA memberships for those who can’t afford the full cost.
It’s not just children who benefit, Barbara says. The YMCA has scholarship programs for every age.
The Y never turns away those who want to join without sitting down with them and trying to work something out, Barbara says.
Tickets for Triad Harmony Express are $10 each and are available at the J.F. Hurley Family YMCA.
