Grace Methodist
Grace United Methodist Church will host the East Rowan High School Honors Chorus at 6 p.m. Sunday.
This chorus, an auditioned group of 40 students, performs throughout the Southeast. Directed by Dean Orbison, the chorus has performed at Carnegie Hall and other well known facilities.
Grace United Methodist Church will have its annual Chili Cook-off on Sunday around noon immediately after the worship service.

Gospel concert
KANNAPOLIS — Rodger’s Park United Church of Christ will host a concert featuring the Gospel Aires on Sunday. The group will perform during the 11 a.m. worship service.

Clergy meeting
CONCORD — The Concord-Kannapolis Ministerial Association will hold its February meeting Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. at Morningside Assisted Living Center, 500 Penny Lane in Concord. A complimentary continental breakfast will be provided by Morningside.
The association exists to provide an opportunity for the clergy of this region to gather for fellowship, support, enrichment and to resource one another. The association normally meets at Morningside on the first Tuesday of each month. All ministers living in or serving congregations in the greater Kannapolis/Concord area are welcome to attend.
Calvary Baptist
Calvary Baptist Church of Salisbury will be hosting its annual Power to Win Party on Sunday at 6 p.m. This party will feature the showing of the Super Bowl on a giant 7-foot screen, along with plenty of food and fellowship. At halftime, a special presentation features the stories of all-pros Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck. The Power to Win Party will take the place of the church’s fellowship hall and is free. Men of Stature
Cedar Grove AME Zion Church will host a Men of Stature program at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Men from various churches will speak on esteem and positive qualities or achievements possessed by men from the Bible. Guest speakers: Benny Hester, Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church; Stacy Cornelius, Sills Creek AME Zion Church; Stanley Rice, Oak Grove Baptist Church; Rodney Cuthbertson, Cedar Grove AME Zion Church; Roy Leazer, Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church; Aaron Stockton, Cameron Presbyterian Church; and Henry Mawolo, Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church.
Mini-revival
MOCKSVILLE — New Bethel Baptist Church Missionary Circle will sponsor a mini-revival 7 p.m. nightly, Monday to Wednesday. The theme is “Unity-Securing the Foundation Brick by Brick.”
Monday night’s speaker will be Rev. Norman Dudley, former pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. Tuesday will be minister Sandra James of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Minister Tim Dalton of Mt. Calvary Holiness Church will speak Wednesday.

Immanuel Lutheran
ROCKWELL — A concert by the East Rowan Honors Chorus will be presented at Immanuel Lutheran Church during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.
Three members of Immanuel — Molly Trexler, Nikki Goodman and Josh Trexler — will be featured, singing “Precious Lord” with the Honors Chorus.
Pastor Bruce Sheeks will deliver a children’s sermon, entitled “Hitting the Mark.”
Following the service, members of the chorus, their family members and relatives are invited for lunch in the Fellowship Building prepared by the congregation.
Immanuel Lutheran is located two miles southeast of Rockwell on Immanuel Church Road.
Trinity Pre-K
KANNAPOLIS — Trinity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis announces that its Trinity Pre-K will begin accepting registration applications for the 2007-08 school year on Tuesday during preschool hours.
Trinity Pre-K is located at 416 East 1st St., across from A.L. Brown High School.

Alpha Course
FAITH — Beginning Wednesday Faith Lutheran Church will begin a series called The Alpha Course.
Participants will begin each evening with a fellowship meal in the family life center from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) liturgy being taught by music director Don Deming and organist Daisy Bost. The Alpha Course will follow, being led by Pastor Loyd Ginn.
The course will run for 11 weeks, consisting of a series of talks addressing key issues to the Christian faith.
A youth study called Nooma will also take place following the supper meal. It will be offered for middle and high school youth, led by Tonya Brinegar. Elementary children will also have special Bible-based activities.
All activities are open to the public.The church is located at 205 S. Main St. in Faith.

Children’s ministry
CHINA GROVE — The South China Grove Church of God, 163 Third Ave., will begin a new Children’s Church ministry Sunday, in the 11 a.m. service, under the direction of Kathy Hall.
Preceding this service, at 10 a.m., Delbert Sterling will be featured speaker in the weekly School of Prayer.
In addition, in the 6:30 evening service, James Mahaffey, Prison Minister and Evangelist, will be speaking along with music and testimonies from several former inmates.

Bethel Valentine party
A Valentine party will be held 2:30-5 p.m. on Feb. 11 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 2380 Long Ferry Rd. There will be free crafts and snacks for children ages 4-12.
The children will also sing songs and play handbells.
They will then share talents with the neighboring Edwards Family Care Center.

Jackson Park Baptist
KANNAPOLIS — Jackson Park Baptist Church, 1005 Jackson St., Kannapolis, welcomes new pastor, Jon L. Estes, and his wife Pamela.
Rev. Estes is originally from Virginia and has pastored churches in Pennsylvania, Greensboro and Roxboro, N.C., and most recently in El Paso, Texas. He served as a school principal and church planter in Oko, Nigeria.
He received a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, a Bachelors degree in Pastoral Ministries from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas and is a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School. Estes has served as a LifeWay national clinic lead teacher for F.A.I.T.H. Sunday School Evangelism Strategy.
Pastor Estes and his wife have 2 sons and one grandson.
