A Rowan teen charged with involuntary manslaughter turned himself in to authorities Wednesday afternoon.

Eric Gregory Taylor, 19, walked into the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office around 3:12 p.m. officials said.

Taylor was indicted Monday by a Rowan County grand jury on charges of manslaughter and felonious hit and run/failure to remain at the scene.

Five other area teens were also indicted and face involuntary manslaughter charges, as well as being a passenger and leaving the scene of an accident.

The May 12 car accident resulted in the death of Michael Jason Brown, 27 of China Grove.

Taylor is named as the driver in the indictment. He was released under a $5,000 secured bond.
