BOONE — Davis Bowne scored a game-high 16 points to lead Appalachian State past the College of Charleston 67-56 on Monday night.

D.J. Thompson added 14 points and 11 assists, while Jeremy Clayton and Kellen Brand scored 11 points each for Appalachian State (17-5, 9-2 Southern Conference).

Former West Rowan standout Donte Minter had two points and five rebounds in 17 minutes for the Mountaineers, who were coming off their biggest conference win since 1978.

ASU and UNC Greensboro are tied atop the North Division of the Southern Conference.

Philip McCandies and Josh Jackson led Charleston with 12 points apiece.

UNCG 65, Georgia Southern 62

GREENSBORO — Kyle Hines scored a game-high 20 points to lead UNC Greensboro (12-9, 9-2 SoCon).

Ricky Hickman added 15 points for the Spartans, who won their sixth straight conference game.

CULLOWHEE — Nick Aldridge scored 22 points to lead Western Carolina (8-13, 5-5 Southern Conference).

Florida A&M 83, Winston-Salem 68

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Winston-Salem (4-20, 0-9) got a game-high 27 points from Darius Floyd.

Brian Fisher added 15 points for the Rams.

UNC Wilmington 65, George Mason 58

WILMINGTON — Vladimir Kuljanin had 17 points off the bench to lead UNC Wilmington (5-15, 2-9 CAA).

Todd Hendley added 12 points against the Patriots (12-9, 6-5).

Hampton 70, North Carolina A&T 64

GREENSBORO — Steven Rush scored 28 points for N.C. A&T.

Charl. Southern 86, Co. Carolina 77

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Donnell Covington’s 22 points helped shorthanded Charleston Southern snap a 13-game losing streak.

The Bucs (6-16, 1-7 Big South) are down to just eight scholarship players, five of whom are freshmen.
