CONCORD — Walker Marketing Inc. received seven MarCom Creative Awards for its marketing and communications projects.

The MarCom Creative Awards is an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communications professionals.

Entries come from corporate marketing and communications departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, graphic design shops and freelancers. Projects are evaluated individually, based on stringent judging criteria, and are not judged directly against other entries.

Walker’s work was selected for recognition from more than 5,000 entries submitted from the United States and several foreign countries during this year’s competition.

“The MarCom Creative Awards gives winners the opportunity to show that their work is highly regarded within the creative industry,” said Gary Walker, president and CEO, Walker Marketing. “And further, it’s very rewarding for our clients to know that their projects rank among the best in the business.”

Walker Marketing took top honors, two MarCom Platinum Awards, one for its brochure development for Laurel Crest, a retirement community in West Columbia, S.C., and one for the development of an informational DVD for Providence Pointe, a Masonic and Eastern Star retirement community in Greensboro.

Platinum winners are recognized for their efforts in terms of quality, creativity and resourcefulness. Approximately 15 percent of entries submitted received Platinum awards.

Projects for two other clients also received recognition as MarCom Gold Award winners. “Site Selection,” a brochure created to assist the city of Kannapolis with industry recruitment, was honored, and a product launch press kit created for S&D Coffee Inc. to promote the company’s new Buffalo & Spring Coffee of Distinction line, also was named a MarCom Gold winner.

Walker Marketing also received three honorable mentions. Kannapolis Magazine, a quarterly publication designed to inform prospective residents and businesses of the fast-paced development that the city of Kannapolis is experiencing; a trade show booth for McClancy Seasoning Co., a leading provider of seasoning and spices; and the logo development for Providence Pointe all received honorable mentions.
