Fields leads State past BC

From staff and wire reports

Former Salisbury High star Shayla Fields scored a career-high 20 points to lead N.C. State’s women to a 58-40 victory against Boston College on Thursday.

Fields became the first Wolfpack player to score 20 points in a game this season. She connected on a career-best five 3-pointers and had two assists against zero turnovers in 31 minutes.

Khadijah Whittington had her third straight double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds for N.C. State (12-5, 1-1 ACC). Fields and Whittington have led the team in scoring six times apiece.

No. 2 North Carolina 100, Clemson 65

CLEMSON, S.C. — Ivory Latta scored 23 points and No. 2 North Carolina stayed undefeated with its 10th straight victory.

The Tar Heels (19-0, 4-0 ACC) are still three victories shy of their best start of 22-0 set a year ago.

Latta, a senior and South Carolina native, got a loud cheer as she left the game with about five minutes to go.

“I’m just glad I had the opportunity to come down here and play in front of my friends and family,” Latta said.

Pfeiffer 83, Erskine 56

Pfeiffer rolled over Erskine thanks to 25 points from Tamara Clay.

Ashelle Athill had 16 points, and Ashley Crenshaw added 15. Pfeiffer (9-3, 4-1) outscored Erksine 51-25 after the break.
