Wesley and Sherry Smith of Gold Hill are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Diane Smith, to Zachary Andrew Simmons, son of Reed and Renee Simmons of China Grove.

The future bride is the granddaughter of Leroy and Lillian Wagoner of Gold Hill and Mary Frances and the late Eugene Smith of Mocksville. A graduate of East Rowan High School and Pfeiffer University, Melissa is a third grade teacher for the Rowan-Salisbury School System.

The future groom is the grandson of Rachel and the late Cecil Boyd Miller of China Grove and Hubert and Joyce Simmons of Landis. A graduate of South Rowan High School, Zachary is a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The couple plan a wedding for Feb. 24, 2007, in the Pfeiffer University Chapel in Misenheimer.
