CHARLOTTE — Former Pepperdine point guard Michael Gerrity transferred to Charlotte on Monday and will be eligible to play in the second semester during the 2007-08 season.

Gerrity averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds a game as a freshman for the Waves last season and scored 20 or more points four times. He had not played this season for Pepperdine due to a foot injury.

* GREENSBORO — Virginia’s Sean Singletary, who averaged 30.5 points and 4.5 rebounds against Gonzaga and Stanford, is the ACC player of the week.

UNC’s Brandan Wright, who averaged 16 points and six rebounds, was named ACC rookie of the week.

CHARLOTTE — Guard Monique Currie was selected by the Chicago Sky with the No. 1 pick in the WNBA dispersal draft on Monday.

Currie,a former Duke star, was one of 11 former Charlotte Sting players taken. The Sting, an original member of the WNBA, folded last week after 10 seasons.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sam Cassell scored 31 points, Cuttino Mobley added 20 and the Los Angeles Clippers started to look healthy again in a 100-90 win Monday night against New Orleans.
