Jonta Moss scored 20 points to lead Livingstone’s women’s basketball team to a 72-61 win at Winston-Salem State’s Gaines Center on Saturday.
Moss hit six 3-pointers to spark the Blue Bears over the Division I opponent.
Livingstone (4-6) overcame a five-point halftime deficit with a 43-point second half. Livingstone was red-hot in the second half, shooting 54 percent from the field.
Lamika Davis (14 points) and Chelsea Johnson (13) also had big scoring games for the Blue Bears, who overcame 15 points and 16 boards by WSSU’s Lavontay Johnson.

Sacred Heart boys win two
Sacred Heart’s boys basketball team picked up two more wins and improved to 15-5 despite the loss of captain James Kyger to a broken shooting hand.
Phil Tonseth and Colin Sullivan had 10 points apiece in a 52-15 win over Conover’s Concordia Lutheran. Roy Dixon (10), Kevin Robinson (eight), Mike Strobel (six) and Connor Miller (six) had big rebounding games. Miller also had four blocks, and Jack Young had five steals.
* Young and Tonseth scored 13 points each in a 55-42 victory over High Point Wesleyan.
Dixon (12 points) and Sullivan (10) also scored in double figures. Strobel had eight rebounds to share honors with Tonseth. Young had five steals.
Guilford’s Tracey Croner (East Rowan) scored 17 points on Friday in a 76-67 loss to Randolph-Macon.
Croner had an even bigger game on Saturday when she matched her career high of 26 points on 11-for-17 field-goal shooting in a 65-55 loss to Virginia Wesleyan. She hit two 3-pointers and had two assists.
* Chattanooga held Appalachian State’s Donte Minter (West Rowan) to three points and four rebounds on Saturday, but Nathan Cranford (Central Cabarrus) sparked the Mountaineers to a 77-63 road win by shooting 10-for-12 on 3-pointers and scoring a career-high 30 points.
Cranford broke Noah Brown’s school record of nine 3s in one game.
* Sophilia Hipps (North Rowan) scored 15 points on Saturday to help South Carolina State down Howard 75-60.
* Maggie Rich (East) scored eight points for Campbell on Saturday in a 63-55 loss to Jacksonville.
CCC schedule change
The North Rowan-Salisbury basketball games originally scheduled for Jan. 16 have been moved up to Wednesday, Jan. 10, because of exam conflicts.
North boosters meet Monday
The North Rowan High School Booster Club will meet on Monday at 7 p.m. in the media center.
