Young hunters show their marksmanship

Staff report

Young hunters are showing off their successes from the woods this deer season.

Brandon Wallace, 7, shot a 3-point buck from 100 yards away on Dec. 15. He had already bagged his first deer on Dec. 1, shooting a doe from 130 yards away. He used a .270-caliber rifle on each. He was hunting with his father, William, when he shot both deer.

Austin Kinley, 12, let several bucks walk by before targeting a 6-pointer on Nov. 1. It was his first deer. He’s the son of Greg and Amy Kinley of Woodleaf.

Mark Robbins, 8, killed a 5-point deer that weighed 140 pounds in western Rowan County. He’s the son of Gregg and Melissa Robbins. They live in Salisbury on U.S. 601.

Brittany Glover of Salisbury got her first deer this season while hunting with her dad, Doug Glover, near Salisbury.
