Kannapolis school board meets Monday

The Kannapolis City Board of Education will lay the groundwork for Head Start in Kannapolis this year.
Members of the board will review the parent and faculty handbooks, organizational chart and two award letters on Head Start for approval.
Rebecca Merriman, who is the district’s teacher of the year, will tell the board about her recent trip to Germany with the University of North Carolina’s Center for International Understanding.
Merriman, with roughly 30 other North Carolina teachers traveled Germany learning about their education system, internship programs and energy sustainability.
Merriman’s trip was funded by the Hayes Charitable Foundation.
The board will also discuss school fees for the 2014-15 school year, receive an update on summer school and discuss the facilities and use report and fee schedule.
Closed session consists of discussing personnel and student matters, with open session for action items afterward.
The Kannapolis City Board of Education will meet Monday at 3 p.m. in the boardroom of the district’s administrative office, 100 Denver St. in Kannapolis.
