MOORESVILLE (AP) — Downtown Mooresville will be booming next month.

The Charlotte Observer reports (http://bit.ly/1rfu5Iz ) the Mooresville Board of Commissioners has unanimously agreed to allow the producers of the Cinemax series “Banshee” to conduct late-night simulated gunfire, explosions and fist fights in downtown Mooresville. It’s scheduled from June 12 to July 11.

Town Manager Erskine Smith has the go-ahead to work out terms of a permit allowing Charlotte-based Screaming Spirit Productions to discharge gunpowder and other combustibles on town streets.

“Banshee” filmed in Mooresville its first two seasons and is returning to shoot a scene over about 14 nights for its third season.

The series is about an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of the fictional town of Banshee, Pa.
