More Relay for Life events coming up

Two weeks ago, Mike Brady, Rowan’s Relay for Life Chair, and Felicia Shepherd, co-chair, attended a conference in Dallas, Texas, recognizing 51 of the best Relays in the world. Rowan County was No. 34 out of 5,274 events held around the world.
Planning committee members are thankful for the people in Rowan who have shown their support.
New fundraisers are coming up now.
The Sweet Potato Queens hold their Spring Queens’ Yard Sale for Relay for the seventh year on Saturday, April 12, at Ursinus United Church of Christ, Rockwell from 7 a.m. until noon. For more information contact Fran at 704-279-5475. The church is at 110 W. Main St., Rockwell
Relay For Life Rodeo with hosts Erwin Middle School will be Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m.—3 p.m. at Happy’s Farm, 985 Parks Road.; $5 donation per person includes unlimited play in jail arcade and Western theme playground; Easter egg hunt with prizes; inflatable bounce house; campfire hot dog roast with pickles and chips; one play at Wagon Ring Toss game to win prizes. On Saturday, May 10, return to the Rowan County Fairgrounds on Julian Road at 6 a.m. for a super Indoor Community Yard Sale for Relay until noon hosted by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office team. At 1 p.m., enjoy a Live Gospel Music Concert featuring Strings of Victory, Darrell Connor and the Country Legends, By His Blood, Michael Thomas as “Elvis,” Heirline and Driven. Breakfast with the Faith Cruisers at their Relay For Life Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 31, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, grits, coffee, milk and juice and is by free-will donation to Relay. For information, contact Carolyn 704-279-5053. The church is at 205 S. Relay For Life: an overnight event celebrating survivorship and fundraiser for your local American Cancer Society. Teams gather at schools/fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking/running laps. Each team keeps a team member on the track throughout. The 2014 Rowan County Relay is May 2-3.
