South Rowan shot 162 to win the SPC golf match held at Rocky River on Monday.
South won for the fourth straight match, holding off West Rowan by one shot.
Other team scores were Hickory Ridge (167), East Rowan (167), Concord (176), Cox Mill (177), Central Cabarrus (181), Carson (196) and Northwest Cabarrus (218).
West’s Jake Kennedy was medalist with a 35. Other scorers for West were Coyte Kyles (42), Cameron Hassard (43) and Chris Hassard (43).
South scorers were Davis Richards (36), Evan Neas (40), Hunter Chapman (42) and Brennan Lambert (44).
East scorers were Logan Shuping (38), Nick Lyerly (40), Ben Rollins (44) and Jacob Durham (45).
Carson scorers were Josh Mitchem (45), Josh Coker (48), Logan Overcash (51), Bobby Bauer (52) and Patrick Street (52). Top scores by the Cabarrus golfers were Concord’s Walker Cress (38) and Cox Mill’s Justin Westveer (39).
South leads for the season, with Hickory Ridge second and West third.
Kennedy leads the individual race with Richards second. Shuping and Westveer are tied for third.
The 2nd Annual Charlie Gillispie Memorial Spring Handicap Tournament was held at McCanless over the last two Sundays. The event was shortened to 27 holes due to weather. The results were as follows:

2nd Place — Treva Honeycutt (Net score-3 Over, 107, low female scorer
3rd Place — Jeff Warren (Net score- 8 Over, 112
• The Rowan County Church Golf League organizational meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the clubhouse at McCanless. At least one member from each team should be present.
• The Snowball Express was played at Crescent over the weekend.
Andy Winders-Tommy Bright shot 65 for first gross. Gus Andrews-Russ Priddy shot 66. Joe Crossen-Ronnie Eidson shot 68.
A pair of former Catawba baseball players Clay Watson-Ryan Query shot 59 for first net.
Larry Whitaker-Neil Stats shot 61. Jason Virden-Jeff Faggart, Andrew Belk-Justin Lefler, Joey Williams-Scott Dickson and Jerimy Chavis-Mike Blume shot 64s.
• In the Carolina Golf Association’s One-Day Tournament at Foxfire, Phil Miller shot 78 to tie for sixth, and David Miller shot 84.
UNC Greensboro’s Roy Dixon (Salisbury) has shot back-to-back 72s in the Middleburg Classic beind held in Williamsburg, Va.
Belmont Abbey’s Samantha Jacobs pitched well in a 4-2 loss to Limestone on Friday. Jacobs went the distance in the circle and struck out six. Katherine Starnes (South Rowan) and Kaitlyn Jones (South) had hits for the Crusaders.
Parks and Rec
Salisbury Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for youth soccer and youth baseball leagues.
Soccer is coed and is for ages 4-13. The cost is $20.
Baseball is coed for ages 4-9 and is free.

The Kannapolis Intimidators open the season at home against Greenville on Thursday, April 3, at 7:05 p.m.
USC Upstate’s Ross Oden (East Rowan) ran a personal-best 5000 meters Friday night at the Charlotte 49er Classic. Oden finished in 14:56 and currently holds Upstate’s secon-fastest 5K time.
Prep track and field
West Rowan competed in a five-team meet at South Rowan that also included East Rowan, Concord and Northwest Cabarrus.
West placed second in the boys meet with 84 points and third in the girls meet with 81.
Winners for West’s boys were Raykwon Torrence in the 110 hurdles (15.7 seconds) and 300 hurdles (42.9) and Chris Patterson in the triple jump (42 feet, 2 inchess).
West’s boys won the 4x200 in 1:33.6 and the 4x100 in 44.3 seconds.
Winners for West’s girls were Brienna Owens in the 400 (1:01.3), Khaila Hall in the 100 (13.3) and long jump (17-2 1/4) and Allison Manley in the shot put (30-1)
