When the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra and Piedmont Dance Theatre collaborate once more to present the family classic “The Nutcracker,” audience-goers will be thrilled to new sets, new costumes, even new dancers.

Performances are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22. at Keppel Auditorium at Catawba College.

Choreographed by Piedmont Dance Theatre Artistic Director Rebecca Massey Wiley, this year’s production boasts an experienced cast and amazing guest artists.

“Our six-year collaboration with the Salisbury Symphony has provided opportunities for our dancers to perform to live music while enriching the symphony patrons’ concert experiences with entertaining dance performances,” Wiley said.

And, it is no secret that Music Director David Hagy enjoys this artistic event; he has often said that the “Nutcracker” collaboration with the Piedmont Dance Theatre is his “favorite concert of the year.”

Musicians are hired and ready to go, the production personnel at Keppel Auditorium, Catawba College are at the ready, dancers are rehearsing, and costumes and sets are set.
