Information and training on voting law offered

  • Posted: Tuesday, October 1, 2013 1:09 a.m.

A community discussion and information on the new voting law in North Carolina will be offered on Saturday at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sponsored by the non-partisan groups Rowan Concerned Citizens and DemocracyNC, the program will feature details of the law and steps that can be taken to make sure citizens have the information and support they need to be ready for new requirements that go into effect in 2014 and 2016.

This training is open to anyone who has questions about the law or how they will be affected. Those persons who are concerned about increasing voter registration and voter turnout are especially encouraged to participate.

If possible, register on facebook.com/rowanconcernedcitizens or send email to rowancitizens@yahoo.com to indicate your interest in attending. Walk-ins are also welcome.
