JON C. LAKEY / SALISBURY POST Keith Deal is a candidate for the Faith Board of Alderman.

FAITH — Keith Deal says he wants to keep his spot on the Faith Town Board of Alderman to continue the work the board has done over the past four years.

Deal, 58, who lives on Gantt St, filed for office July 17. He served as mayor of Faith from 2009 through 2011 and is currently the town’s mayor pro tem.

“I believe we live in the best town in Rowan County and would be grateful to serve our community again,” Deal wrote to the Post.

He said he is running for a third term to keep the tax base as low as possible, “keep all 808 residents of Faith as safe as possible” and keep town departments running as smoothly and efficiently as they can.

“(The) public works department started when I was mayor and would like to continue improving and adding to this department,” he wrote.

Deal, who is retired from Carolinas Healthcare, was a member of the Faith Fire Department for 40 years and served as its fire chief for 20 years. He is a past member of the Faith Jaycees and is currently involved in the Faith Youth Incentive. Deal also attends Faith Baptist Church, where he is a deacon, a Royal Ambassadors director and chairman of the safety committee.

Deal and his wife, Terri, have one daughter and four grandchildren.

In the Nov. 5 election, he will be competing against seven people, including three incumbents, for one of five open seats on the Faith town board.
