KANNAPOLIS — Authorities are investigating a suspected homicide after a 62-year-old Kannapolis woman was found dead in her home Tuesday morning.

Deputies said Shirley Goodnight Pierce, of Evandale Road, was found deceased.

Investigators are collecting evidence, interviewing neighbors in the area and following up on potential leads, a Rowan County news release said.

Authorities were called to the scene to investigate a “suspicious death,” according to a press release.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.

This is the third homicide in Rowan since Saturday, when two cousins were shot to death near Cleveland.

Authorities stressed the Kannapolis homicide is not related to a double homicide Saturday night.
