Cornerstone Church

Cornerstone Church, 315 Webb Road., will host its 10th annual Celebrate America Service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

It will last approximately one hour and will consist of patriotic music, videos and dramatic presentations.


Attendees are asked to wear red, white and blue Small American flags will be given out during the event.

Calvary Fundamental Baptist

LANDIS — Calvary Fundamental Baptist Church, 414 Upright St.,will be hosting the Rev. Arvin Devers, missionary to Scotland, Sunday.

Rev. Devers will be delivering a message at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Liberty United Methodist

GOLD HILL — Liberty United Methodist Church, 3885 Liberty Road, will host Matthew Weaver during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.

Weaver is a singer, songwriter and musician of numerous instruments.

He was pianist of the year in 2011 and 2012 with the North Carolina Music Competition.

In 2012, Weaver was the recipient of the Bascom Lamar-Lunsford Award from the North Carolina Folk Festival.

Weaver, a graduate of Appalachian State University, will star as the opening act for the Faith Forth of July festivities June 30.

Weaver is also involved with Red Bird Missions, a mission project of the United Methodist Church which serves rural areas in Appalachian Mountains.

Erwin Temple C.M.E.

COOLEEMEE — Erwin Temple C.M.E. 155 Erwin Temple Church Road, will hold a homecoming service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The morning sermon will be given by the pastor the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah, Jr.

The Mass Choir will sing under the direction of Minister of Music Travis Williams.

Lunch will be served at 1:45 p.m. or after the guest for afternoon services’ arrival.

The afternoon service begins at 3 p.m. with Dr. Clary L. Phelps of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. Music will be provided by Gethsemane gospel choir.

Erwin Temple will have a three night revival following the Sunday event starting Monday with the Rev. Clarence Marlin of Fairview Heights Baptist Church.

The Rev. John Cade of Files Chapel Baptist Church in Lexington will speak Tuesday.

Bishop Derek Kelly, pastor of New Faith Full Gospel Fellowship Center in Lexington, will round out the services Wednesday.

Services begins at 7 p.m. nightly.

St. Luke’s Lutheran

MT. ULLA- St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 11020 NC 801, will celebrate homecoming and Golden Age on Sunday.

Pastor Jack McHenry will participate in the worship service.

McHenry was St. Luke’s Vicar in 2004-2005.

There will be a covered dish meal in the fellowship hall following the worship service.

Church members 70 years old and older will be recognized as well as members married at least 50 years.

First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, 308 W. Fisher St., will begin its day of worship at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary.

The Life Center worship service will be in Lewis Hall beginning at 8:50 a.m.

Sunday school for all ages will be at 10 a.m.

Another worship service begins at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Installations for Vacation Bible School teachers and leaders will take place during the 8:50 and 11 a.m. worship services.

New Faith Full Gospel

New Faith Full Gospel Fellowship Center and Bishop Derek D. Kelly have decided to shift the time of Sunday morning service for the Salisbury location, 1131 Grady St., to 9:30 a.m. This will be effective starting Sunday.

North Kannapolis Baptist

LANDIS — North Kannopolis Baptist is sponsoring clothing drive at Helping Hands Thrift Store, 1135 Central Drive. All clothing half price and all proceeds go to North Kannapolis missionary work.

Jerusalem Baptist

SPENCER — Jerusalem Baptist Church and host pastor the Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken of 1570 Long St., Spencer, will have Men’s Day on Sunday during the regular 11 a.m. service.

Elder Ronald Staley of Norfolk, Va., will be the speaker.

Staley, a Salisbury native, is the son of Montina Fox and James Staley.

A graduate of Salisbury High School, Staley is a minister at Endtime United Church in Norfolk.

He retired from the United States Navy and is married to Chima Freeman.

New Bethel Baptist

MOORESVILLE — New Bethel Baptist Church, 3727 US 601 S., will hold its annual Men’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Timothy Bridges, Pastor of Shady Grove in East Spencer.

The speaker will be accompanied by his choir and congregation.

Rhema Praise and Worship Church

SPENCER — The Rhema Praise and Worship Church, 117 Long Ferry Road, will celebrate its second anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The theme is “Greater is Coming.” The choir will be in concert followed by a Rainbow Tea.

Macedonia Missionary Baptist

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 2865 Enon Church Road, Salisbury, will have a ministry ordination service for the Rev. Chris Chunn at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The message will be delivered by the Rev. Perry Dye, pastor of Henderson Grove Baptist Church.

Halls Temple

Halls Temple will be hosting its annual Men’s Day, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The speaker will be Pastor Joseph Robinson of New Creation Church in Statesville.

The Echoes of Christ is the special guest for the program.

Mt. Zion Baptist

MT. ULLA — Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1765 White Road, will have a pastoral anniversary celebration for Pastor Corey Barr and First Lady Stataria Barr at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The speaker for the afternoon service will be Pastor Brent Bailey of Wilkesboro.

Piedmont Singing Men

KANNAPOLIS—he Piedmont Singing Men, an ensemble of more than 30 vocalists will perform a concert of patriotic, gospel and Christian favorites at 4 p.m. Sunday at Enoch Lutheran Church, 701 Campbell Ave.

A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. The cost is free, but donations are welcome.

Bethel Power of Faith

Bethel Power of Faith Ministries and Apostle Charlene Kellam, 1021 N. Main St., will be having a guest speaker at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Apostle Vanessa Tatlah from Blessings of God Ministries in Lexington will give the message.

Trinity UMC

KANNAPOLIS- Trinity United Methodist Church, 416 E. First St., will have its Animal Fun Children’s Program from 4 6 p.m. today.

There will be live animals such as snakes, turtles, rabbits, frogs, lizards and more.

A hotdog super will be served. The program and meal will be free. Preschool and elementary age children and parents are invited.

Landmark Church

Landmark Church, 1910 Mooresville Road, will host a concert featuring LeBeau at 6 p.m. Sunday.

LeBeau is a father and son southern gospel music group based out of Lexington.

The duo travels full time in the music ministry.

Father and son, Tim and Timmy have completed a new CD titled, “The Bridge.”

The group reaches and travels abroad reaching all age groups for inspiration.

The Lilly’s Chapel congregation will be hosting Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday.

New Zion Baptist Church

New Zion Baptist Church will observe its Annual Youth Revival at 7 p.m. nightly Wednesday through Friday.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Timothy Bates, pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Statesville.

Summer Sports and Life Skills Camp

A nine week summer sports camp for local youth of East Spencer will begin Monday and run through Aug. 22.

The camp is for children ages 5 to 18 years old.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday of every week, with sports instruction at Royal Giants Park on Robinson Road in East Spencer.

The camp is sponsored by Chronicles of Human Services, Shady Grove Baptist Church and the town of East Spencer.

Camp will be offered free to the first 50 eligible youth from East Spencer, but will be available to others for $10 per week.

Free breakfast and lunch will be offered at Shady Grove. Breakfast is from 7 to 9 a.m. and lunch starts at noon.

Mt. Zion Lutheran

RICHFIELD — Mt. Zion Lutheran Church has rescheduled “A Night Under the Stars” to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The free family-friendly movie on the lawn will include popcorn and soft drinks.

Lawn chairs and blankets are not included. Feel free to bring your own.
