Rufty-Holmes Senior Center will again provide free fans this summer to seniors who need them. Operation Fan — Heat Relief is made possible through a grant from Duke Energy.

The program runs June through August.

To be eligible for a fan, applicants:

• Must be at least 60 years old

• Must be a Rowan County resident

• Must have a discernible need for a fan, such as having no air conditioning, or needing supplemental movement of air

• Should not have received a fan through this program last year

Eligible seniors may call to reserve a fan, which can be picked up at the Rufty-Holmes Senior Center.  Be prepared to share the name, address, phone number, age, and date of birth, for the person receiving the fan.

If you or someone you know needs a free box fan for summer heat relief, contact Rufty-Holmes at 704-216-7703, or call the Senior HelpLine at 704-216-7700.
