Landis reports wastewater spill
The town of Landis had a discharge of untreated wastewater from a manhole located at 618 N. Chapel Street on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Debris blocking the line caused the estimated 10,000-gallon spill with an estimated 8,000 gallons reaching Coldwater Creek.
Lines were cleared of debris within 30 minutes of learning of the overflow. No significant environmental damage was identified. The Mooresville regional office of the N.C. Division of Water Quality was notified of the discharge of untreated wastewater.
This notice was required by North Carolina General Statutes.
