Authorities have obtained warrants and are searching for a man they say tried to take items from the ruins of Grimes Mill.

The Salisbury Police are looking for Cedric McKinley Thompson, 19, last known address of West Lafayette Street, Salisbury. The 117-year-old mill caught fire a couple of weeks ago.

Someone was spotted early Tuesday morning among the rubble. The suspect had jumped a fence surrounding the site. By the time authorities arrived on the scene, the suspect was gone. Police believe the thief was searching for metal to sell for cash.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cedric Thompson is asked to call the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
