Author visits Granite Quarry Elementary
Granite Quarry Elementary students enjoyed a special presentation from local author and former Rowan-Salisbury student Garrett White on Jan. 9. He presented his first book, “A Boy’s Best Friend” and described the process in which he wrote it. He shared both the manuscript and his inspiration for the story, which was his first hunting dog and best childhood friend. The students were captivated by his hunting tales told through a boy’s relationship with his dog. Students were inspired to explore their own dreams in writing as White shared that the book started from a story he wrote in the fifth grade at Mt. Ulla Elementary School.
