KANNAPOLIS — A “City of Kannapolis Night” will be held at the Intimidators game on Friday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. The Intimidators will play the Savannah Sand Gnats that evening at 7:05 p.m.
In conjunction with “Fan Appreciation Night,” attendees will receive discounts at the souvenir shop and concession stand. Kannapolis residents can also buy game tickets for a discounted price of $2 each at the ticket booth.
Representatives from the city’s police, fire and public works departments will attend, entertaining guests with a variety of displays, special appearances and more.
“We are all very excited about the evening,” says City Manager Mike Legg. “It’s going to be a great opportunity for the departments to interact with the community.”
The police department has committed to bringing a patrol car, evidence vehicle, armored Humvee, canine unit and various educational and interactive displays.
The fire department plans on bringing at least one engine and ladder truck, and mascot “Sparky” will be there to entertain fans and hand out safety and educational materials.
Staff from public works will be providing a variety of information on the programs they offer, opportunities and recycling and green-living initiatives.
All Kannapolis residents and staff are encouraged to head out to the stadium Friday evening for the family-friendly event celebrating the city. The Intimidators will play the Sand Gnats again on Saturday, Sept. 1 for their final season game with fireworks. Saturday’s game is presented by Cabarrus Economic Development.
