SALISBURY — Several weapons were seized Sunday after Salisbury police officers responded to a call about gunshots on West Ridge Avenue.

Residents in the 100 block of West Ridge Avenue called police after hearing several shots and reported that two cars were parked in the road.

When police arrived, they found Raymond Nicholas James, 24, and Marquis Shahkor Suber, 24. A search produced several weapons, including one stolen gun.

A .32 caliber handgun, Glock 19, gun holster, ammunition magazines and a cellphone were found in a book bag that also carried James’ ID. A duffel bag in Suber’s vehicle was found to contain a loaded .38 special handgun, a .22 caliber handgun with an altered serial number and Suber’s ID.

Searches of one of the vehicles turned up ammunition, a set of digital scales, multiple rounds and shell casings, a pill bottle containing 10 grams of cocaine, and an MP rifle. A search of the guns’ serial numbers turned up a stolen firearm.

James was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, drug possession, and violation of a city ordinance about shooting guns in the city limits. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.
