Contamination only raises more coal ash questions

I grew up on Dukeville Road and I am worried about my health and my family’s health as a result of our contaminated well water. We have no assurance of how long our well water has been contaminated and this is a scary time for my family and our whole neighborhood.

Duke Power is our next door neighbor, but they seem to care little about what damage their plants cause to our home.

The small stream that connects to the largest ash pond on Dukeville Road is behind all the houses there and needs to be further investigated.

I am urging the state and all parties involved to help us get to the bottom of this. No one person, family or child should have to drink contaminated water. There remain many unanswered questions, and clean drinking water has still been provided to my family.

Continue coach’s pay

In reference to the suspension without pay of the West Rowan High School teacher and coach, I would like to add he should continue to receive pay while a full investigation is completed. He is a highly respected teacher loved by students and staff and he should be supported while an investigation takes place.

We have trouble finding good teachers now because of the “extra” challenges and regulations that go along with being a teacher in today’s classroom. The action taken against this popular, well-respected teacher will be under the scrutiny of many students, parents and other teachers, so I urge you to consider all the facts and accounts of those students witnessing the episode before rushing to a hasty decision and discouraging other quality teachers from coming to the Rowan/ Salisbury School System.

See ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’

I try to catch as much good theater and opera as possible, and I was truly rewarded this past Sunday with the PIedmont Players production of  “One Man, Two Guvnors.”

I live 75 away,so driving down is an investment. I thought it might be an unusual production and not only was it that, in a good way, but it’s the most hilarious comedy I have seen in many years. I have always liked British humor, and traveling back to Brighton in 1963 is as good as it gets when a production is this well done.

The perfect timing, amazing acting by the entire ensemble, colorful sets, great music, masterful production design and the entire event rendered a joyful surprise at every turn. The Piedmont Players, to me, presents the best theater in our state if not the entire Southeast. This production is right there in the Salisbury community and anyone that enjoys exceptionally well done theater will get the absolute very best when they see this  remarkable and memorable production.

I am still glowing from this terrific afternoon at “One Man, Two Guvnors.”
