Rain should move out today — temporarily, at least

Rowan County got hit by a barrage of rain Sunday that filled culverts and left standing water on some roadways, but, according to the National Weather Service, we’ll see sunnier skies this week.

There were no reports of flooding in Rowan County despite the heavy rains, said Meteorologist Trisha Palmer.

A warm front lifted across the area, bringing in the rain, she said. Portions of the Piedmont were also under a tornado watch Sunday. While the area may get some thunderstorms today, the rain won’t be as widespread as it was on Sunday, Palmer said. The weather should be sunnier and warmer mid-week, but there’s a possibility of more rain returning during the weekend.
