N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will replace the bridge on Sloan Road over Kerr Creek in Rowan County beginning Monday, March 9 at 8 a.m. The work should be completed by Tuesday, June 16.

Motorists will still be able to access residences and businesses on either side of the bridge construction area.

They can used the signed detour route along N.C. 150 and are advised to use caution in the area and allow extra travel time to reach their destination safely.

The bridge was built in 1960 and is considered structurally deficient. That means while it is still safe, it has been in deteriorating condition, needed more constant monitoring and needed to be replaced.
