Rowan weather: Good chance of rain today

A mostly cloudy day today will still be muggy and very warm, with a high of 88. Showers and thunderstorms are likely after 4 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of rain.

This afternoon and evening, some strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, with damaging winds the main threat.

The chance of rain continues tonight, with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 71. Because of all the moisture in the atmosphere, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall.

Wednesday has a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, starting as early as 9 a.m. Even more moisture in the atmosphere today will lead to a threat of heavy rainfall that could produce flash flooding. It will be mostly cloudy and 85, with east wind at 3-7 mph. Up to three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

The same chance of rain lingers Wednesday night, with a low of 70; another half inch of rain is possible in thunderstorms.

The high Thursday will be 87, still with mostly cloudy skies and an east wind at 5-7 mph. The 30 percent chance of showers begins around 9 a.m., then includes thunderstorms later on.

Thursday night has just a 20 percent chance of rain, with a low of 70.

Friday will be partly sunny and 88, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Friday night will be partly cloudy and 71.

The 90s returns Saturday, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 93. The low will be 72.
