Lemon looms large in China Grove

Judy Higgins of China Grove has had a lemon tree for almost two years.
Her neighbor gave her the tree, which is almost 6 feet tall. In the spring and summer, she keeps it on her deck. When the weather gets cold, she moves it into the sunroom. She just picked her seventh lemon and it weighed in at .84 pounds according to scales at the China Grove Food Lion.
“It’s the biggest I’ve ever seen and everyone who has seen it told me that I should send a picture to The Salisbury Post,” says Higgins, who has been reading the paper for more than 40 years.
