CHINA GROVE — A Kannapolis man told authorities on Monday that his cousin took his car for repairs before selling it to a salvage yard.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Don Witherspoon, 1412 Arden Ave., told deputies that his cousin, Darrell Witherspoon, took his 1975 Oldsmobile to Darrell’s shop to make repairs.
Several days later, Don said he received a phone call that said his vehicle was at C&D Salvage at 645 Lentz Road.
When a deputy arrived at the lot, the report said, the vehicle did not have wheels. The vehicle was valued at $1,300.
Employees at the business told authorities that another vehicle Darrell Witherspoon brought in recently also had to be returned to the owner.
The Sheriff’s Office said warrants have been obtained for Darrell Witherspoon for felony larceny of a motor vehicle and felony obtaining property by false pretense.
Deputies ask that anyone with information on Darrell Witherspoon’s whereabouts call the Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700.
