Ardis Chapel holds give-away

St. Luke Missionary Baptist hosts auto show with prizes

Singing anniversary at Erwin Temple
WOODLEAF — The Gospel Travelers singing group will celebrate their 50th singing anniversary at Erwin Temple CME Church, 155 Erwin Temple Church Road, on Saturday at 7 p.m. All choirs and singing groups local and out of town, are welcome to participate by singing during the program.
Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. is host pastor.

Heritage Day at Providence UMC
Providence United Methodist Church, 6450 Bringle Ferry Road, will celebrate Heritage Day on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., the annual celebration of their heritage and roots in the community. It is also a celebration of the Fourth of July and the birth of our country. There will only be one worship service on July 14 followed by a cookout, homemade ice cream contest, annual horseshoe tournament, and games for the children.
Host pastor is Aldana Allen.

The Efird Family Singers
CHINA GROVE — The Efird Family Singers will be in concert at Mt. Moriah Lutheran’s Church, 750 Mt. Moriah Church Road, at the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday. Michael Kotish, organist and music director will lead the worship service.

WOW weekend at New Zion Baptist
The Women of Wisdom Weekend is July 13-14 at New Zion Baptist Church, 2785 Dunn’s Mountain Road.
Saturday’s keynote speaker for the 10 a.m. prayer breakfast is Rev. Wanda W. Fowler, associate minister of Greater Church Winston Salem. She is will begin pursuing her doctorate degree this fall and currently serves as a co-chair of the board of directors for the Winston-Salem Pregnancy center. Breakfast is $7.
On Sunday, the 11 a.m. speaker is Rev. Tiffany Miller, associate minister at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She is also currently serving as associate minister of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and is a coordinator of the City Wide Revival that is held at the end of May each year.
The 3 p.m. speaker will be Rev. Donna Cuthbertson, pastor of Smith Grove AME Zion Church in Mocksville. She served as the District Girl Scout Director for the Salisbury District of the AME Zion Church for over 20 years. She is currently pursuing a master of divinity degree at Hood Theological Seminary.
The host pastor at New Zion is Rev. V. Patrick Jones.

First UCC welcomes guest musician
On Sunday at 11 a.m. at First United Church of Christ, Gretchen Tracy will be the guest musician. She began piano study at age 3, eventually earning a Master’s degree in piano performance and an Artist Diploma. She started cello study as an eighth grader and, in high school, she was the youngest player under contract with the Charlotte Symphony. She now freelances for local music events. Lately she has been performing on bluegrass banjo which she will play in Sunday’s service. Worship begins at 11 a.m.

26th Pastoral Anniversary
On Sunday at 3 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Holiness Church, 255 Camp Road, the guest speaker will be Pastor Perry Dye of Henderson Grove Baptist Church.
The presiding minister will be Minister Julia Walker.

Come Hear the Chosen at Boxwood
MOCKSVILLE — Boxwood Missionary Church is holding a “Come Hear the Chosen” singing service on Sunday at 3 p.m., featuring various preachers. Sponsored by the Pastors Aide Ministry. Host pastor is Rev. Gary S. Milton

Building fund service at Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist
Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Road, will host a Building Fund Service on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The speaker will be the Rev. John Leazer of Macedonia Baptist Church of Concord.
Host pastor is the Rev. Clarence E. Marlin.

The Shepherds to sing at China Grove Church of God
CHINA GROVE — China Grove Church of God, 413 N. Franklin St., will be hosting an outdoor concert with gospel recording artists The Shepherds on Friday, July 19 at 6 p.m. The concert will start at 7 p.m.
From 6-9 p.m. the Hot Dog Shack will be on site offering food for purchase. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors. A freewill offering will be received for The Shepherds.

St. John’s Reformed celebrates 100 years
KANNAPOLIS — St. John’s Reformed Church, 901 N. Main St., will celebrate its 100th year anniversary the weekend of July 27-28.
St. John’s was organized July 27, 1919, and is the only church of the five original downtown Kannapolis Churches still worshiping in their original building. Dr. Lee A. Peeler was the first pastor and 12 other pastors have served St. John’s over the past 100 years. St. John’s current pastor, Dr. Chris King, has served since 2016.
The two-day celebration begins July 27, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with games, outdoor activities, food and live music. On Sunday, July 28, worship is at 10:30 a.m. led by Dr. King. A luncheon will follow with food and beverages provided by the church.
Both days feature a time of sharing memories, tours of the church and history room, and displays of historical photographs.

The free camp for boys & girls ages 9-15 s July 22-26 from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Livingstone College in Trent Gymnasium.
Breakfast and lunch will provided by the USDA Summer Lunch Program.
