Investing in local stores throughout North Carolina, two local Walmart stores are among the 41 locations that are being remodeled and upgraded.

These stores include the Salisbury location at 323 S Arlington St. and in Kannapolis at 2420 Supercenter Dr. NE.

In a release, it was noted that Walmart has set a goal to remodel more than 650 stores across the United States, including those in North Carolina. Prior to 2025, Walmart invested $682 million to upgrade stores throughout North Carolina in the past five years.

Updates through the stores will include a new look with big, bold signage, more selection, expanding online pickup and delivery and rethinking their pharmacy with wider aisles, new private screening rooms and a privacy checkout area.

“Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role,” said Annie Walker, senior vice president, east business unit at Walmart. “By investing in our stores and associates, we are not only improving the shopping experience, but also reinforcing our commitment to being a vital part of the community’s fabric, helping to build a brighter future for all.”

In the release about the upgrades to the stores, it was also announced that Walmart has invested in North Carolina associates with unlimited career opportunities close to home and investing in North Carolina communities helping their neighbors donating to communities, food banks and supplying jobs.
