High school track and field: WD girls win CCC; Cavs edge SHS for third

TYRO — West Davidson’s girls won for the fourth year in a row in the Central Carolina Conference Championships on Tuesday.
The Green Dragons amassed 197 points. East Davidson was second with 171. It was a two-team race.

North Rowan (76) and Salisbury (72) competed well in field events and sprints, but neither team has distance runners. Also competing were Lexington (66), South Davidson (37) and Thomasville (7).
North Rowan was stout in the throws. Krisstyle Stockton won the shot put (33-8.5). Alanah McArthur was second in the shot put and fourth in the discus.
Ty’Tiana Clemons won the 300 hurdles (51.12), placed second in the 100 hurdles and added sixth-place points in the 100.
Da’riya Carpenter was fourth in the 400.
North was second to Lexington in the 4×200 relay and second to Salisbury in the 4×100.

Salisbury’s Shekiya Woodruff had a great meet. She won the 100 (12.80) and 200 (26.28) and ran with Angela Boileau, Kimora Chawlk and Taliyah Freeman on the winning 4×100 team (52.83). Woodruff added a third place in the long jump.
Chawlk won the high jump (5-2) and triple jump (31-1) and got points for seventh in the long jump.
Freeman had a second in the 200 and got third place in the 100.
