High school softball roundup: East, West make SPC final

Tuesday games …
MOUNT ULLA — East Rowan flattened Central Cabarrus 10-0 in a South Piedmont Conference Tournament semifinal played at West Rowan.
The top-seeded Mustangs (21-2) scored in every inning and put the fourth-seeded Vikings (14-10) away with a three-run fifth for the 10-run rule.
Central beat East once in the regular season, but the Mustangs weren’t about to let that happen again.
Camryn Perkins was in the circle for East. She only struck out two, but there was a lot of soft contact, and the Mustangs made no errors. Perkins allowed three hits and didn’t walk a batter.
East had nine hits.
East’s Kori Miller, Lily Kluttz and Jordan Dry clobbered home runs and drove in three runs apiece.
Kori Miller had three hits, while Eleni Miller had two.
East is third in the 3A West RPI rankings behind Enka and Oak Grove.
Central is 17th in the RPI rankings and is safely in the playoffs.

MOUNT ULLA – West Rowan coach Jimmy Greene’s 200th win at the helm of the Falcons came in a hard-fought 4-1 semifinal against South Rowan.
Greene is in his 12th season at the helm, all winning seasons. That includes a 2-1 record in the 2020 COVID season and 12-3 in the shortened 2021 season. West (18-4) has a chance to reach the 20-win milestone for the fourth straight season.
Second-seeded West hit the long ball again, with Ava Baxter and Riley Haggas clearing the fences.
Raney Phelps, Haggas and Baxter had two hits each.
Arabelle Shulenburger pitched a complete game and didn’t allow any earned runs. Reese Poole was a vacuum cleaner at shortstop.
Kynlee Dextraze had the RBI for the Raiders. Danica Krieg and Lexie Ritchie had two hits each.
West will play East for the tournament championship in Mount Ulla on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. East is 2-0 against the Falcons.
West is seventh in the 3A West RPI rankings. South (14-6) is 15th in the RPI rankings and could get a first-round home game in the 32-team bracket.

THOMASVILLE — Fourth-seeded Salisbury lost 15-0 in a Central Carolina Conference Tournament semifinal to top-seeded West Davidson .
The game was played at East Davidson. It lasted only three innings, as the Green Dragons (15-7) pounded 11 hits and took advantage of five Hornet errors.
Abigail Leonard homered for WD.
Addie Myers and Allie Peeler walked. They were the Hornets’ only base runners.
Peeler finished the season with a .636 batting average.
The Hornets finished 10-11.
