SALISBURY — Catawba’s baseball team won 9-7 against Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday at Newman Park in a non-conference game that could affect regional seeding.
The Indians (37-12) are ranked sixth in Division II, while the Bears (40-10) are ranked 20th.
Nathan Chrismon (South Rowan) went 3-for-3 and scored two runs for the Indians. Cole Hales (Carson) had two hits and two RBIs.
Dylan Driver (Carson) and Sam Hunter scored two runs each.
Catawba used five pitchers, with Braeden Major starting.
Brandon Rodgers (6-1) earned the win with another strong outing. Hayden Simmerson (Carson) allowed two runs but struck out five and earned his 14th save.
The SAC Tournament starts on May 2. The Indians will be at home against No. 8 seed Newberry in their first tournament game with a 2 p.m. first pitch. Catawba’s bracket also includes 4 seed Limestone and 5 seed Coker.
