Single car crash into tree leaves one critical

CHINA GROVE — A car that crashed into a tree on Millbridge Road, China Grove has left one man in critical condition, according to N.C. State Highway Patrol.
According to the trooper, the 23-year-old driver, whose identity has not been released, appears to have over-corrected and run off the right side of the road, striking a tree.
The driver was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters and was initially taken to Atrium Health Cabarrus then transferred to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte in critical condition.
The trooper said speed was a contributing factor, estimating the car hit the tree at approximately 75 miles per hour. The accident did not involve any other cars and there were no passengers in the vehicle.
