MONROE — It hasn’t been a great baseball season for A.L. Brown (6-16), but CJ Gray has produced an All-State worthy senior year.

Gray slugged his 10th homer and added a double in Monday’s 8-3 non-conference win at Piedmont. Gray also shut down Piedmont for five innings on the mound.

Gray (6-1, 193) signed with N.C. State, although this summer’s MLB draft could play a role in shaping his future. He’s one of the state’s hardest throwers on the mound and would be a potential two-way player for the Wolfpack.

The Wonders were back in action Tuesday at CATA and play at South Rowan on Wednesday.
