Rowan Chamber’s April PIP
The Rowan Chamber of Commerce’s Power in Partnership (PIP) breakfast on Thursday featured Dr. Jonathan Fisher as the keynote speaker, for the second year in a row. Novant Health Rowan Medical Center was the sponsor. The event was held at Trinity Oaks.
Fisher’s speech was titled, “A Cardiologist’s Guide to Healing, Health and Happiness,” drawing on more than 25 years of experience in medicine and leadership. He started his presentation quoting Proverbs 4:23, which says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
A Harvard-trained cardiologist, keynote speaker and workplace well-being leader, Fisher is passionate about helping professionals and organizations build resilience, reduce stress and thrive. He blends the latest science of the mind-heart connection with practical strategies for cultivating emotional intelligence, authentic leadership and well-being at work.
“We had fantastic feedback from Dr. Fisher’s presentation last year and we invited him back again this year,” Chamber President Elaine Spalding said. “Novant Health is such a wonderful sponsor and brings excellent speakers to our community.”
Fisher said that the four dimensions of the heart are in crisis: physical, emotional, social and spiritual. He encouraged the 120 audience members to watch out for “heartbreakers” such as stress and anxiety and to focus on “heartwakers” such as love, gratitude and compassion. He talked about the seven timeless traits of the heart: steadiness, wisdom, openness, wholeness, courage, lightness and warmth. Fisher’s advice to business and community leaders was to “live and lead with their hearts,” adding that the world needs to have “strong leaders, healthier teams, a competitive edge, resilience and sustainable success.”
Fisher has delivered keynote speeches on global stages. His inspiring presentations equip leaders and teams with tools to navigate challenges with clarity, compassion, and courage, creating meaningful impact within their organizations and beyond.
The next PIP is May 15, at 7:30 a.m., at Trinity Oaks and will feature speaker Alisa Stone (senior director and facility leader at Macy’s) and Leadership Rowan Class #32 graduation. After a summer break, the PIP series will return in September for the 2025–26 season.
