SPENCER — There were 29 runs, 24 errors, 36 stolen bases and five HBPs, a crazy Thursday night of baseball if there’s ever been one, but all that mattered to North Rowan baseball coach Tim Everett were the positive numerals on the scoreboard: North Rowan 17, Lexington 12.

After being pounded 16-2 by Lexington (2-14, 1-9) on Tuesday, the Cavaliers (4-11, 3-7) definitely will take the unorthodox win. They needed it. They were 3-3 on March 10, but hadn’t won since then. They broke an eight-game losing streak.

North scored six runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed, but Lexington got as close as 11-9 before the Cavaliers scored six times in the sixth.

Chase Cauble pitched a whole lot better than it sounds, allowing nine hits and two earned runs in five innings. He struck out six and walked two. Caleb Everett got the last six outs.

Cauble scored three runs. Zane Smith had three hits and two RBIs. Zion Gillespie had two hits. Everett, Dylan Garrigus and Smith scored two each.
